info
Honda's Rancher series has set the standard in the midsize multipurpose ATV segment for decades, known for its dependability, adaptability, and daily practicality. Engineered to tackle tough jobs while remaining comfortable on trails, the Rancher platform comes in four distinct setups. Riders can choose between two- or four-wheel drive, a traditional gearbox or Honda's sophisticated automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT), including a model featuring independent rear suspension. Every unit is designed in Georgia, engineered in Ohio, and assembled in North Carolina utilizing both domestic and international components, showcasing Honda's dedication to functional innovation and time-tested engineering.

HISTORY
When it launched for the 2000 model year, the Honda FourTrax Rancher immediately became a reference point in the midsize multipurpose ATV class for farmers, workers, and outdoor fans. That first version utilized a 329cc single-cylinder engine paired with either a manual or Hondamatic transmission, offered in both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive layouts. Thanks to its ample ground clearance and low center of gravity, the Rancher delivered handling comparable to certain sport ATVs from rivals.

In 2004, Honda updated the restyled Rancher AT with a brand-new 397cc single-cylinder engine linked to a second-generation Hondamatic transmission, along with push-button Electric Shift Program (ESP) for manual control.

A full redesign arrived in 2007, introducing a stronger, liquid-cooled 420-class engine and electronic fuel injection. This generation came in four forms: 2WD standard or ESP, and 4WD standard or ESP. All variants included a robust cooling system, a rust-resistant stainless-steel exhaust, and front disc brakes. The four-wheel-drive models also featured TraxLok for selectable 2WD/4WD operation.

For the 2009 model year, the highly popular FourTrax Rancher became the first powersports vehicle to offer Honda's renowned Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), enabling five-speed automatic shifting or push-button manual selection. Options also included Electric Power Steering or standard manual steering, plus double-wishbone independent rear suspension for superior handling and disc brakes at both ends.

Honda reimagined the Rancher again for the 2014 model year with a completely new frame and an independent-rear-suspension layout. Then, in 2020, the model gained revised utility racks compatible with Honda Pro-Connect.
