2026 HONDA Talon 1000R4 FOX Live Valve

Share the rush

The Talon 1000R-4 FOX Live Valve is built to turn every ride into a shared adventure. With seating for four, it’s powered by our legendary 999cc Unicam® engine, seamless automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission, and FOX’s cutting-edge semi-active suspension that adapts to any terrain. Precision, power, and performance — all with room for your crew.

Powerful 999cc twin-cylinder engine

Experience unparalleled power with our liquid-cooled 999cc inline-twin engine, boasting high horsepower, ample torque, and unmatched refinement throughout the rpm range.

Unicam® cylinder head design

Using the same proven Unicam® cylinder head design found in our championship-winning CRF450R motocrosser helps make the engine more compact, allowing us to position it for optimal weight distribution and ground clearance.

High lift, long-duration camshaft

Giving the engine a high-lift, long-duration camshaft improves its breathing and yields more power throughout the rpm range.

Roller rocker arms

Roller-tip rocker arms in the valve train reduce engine friction, improve efficiency, and increase power output at higher revs.

Large throttle bore

Our engineers gave the engine twin 46mm throttle bores for better breathing and airflow, complementing the potent camshaft specs. You'll feel and hear the difference when you hit the loud pedal.

High-flow fuel injectors

More air plus more fuel equals more power. With the hot cam, throttle body, and high-flow fuel injectors, the engine is the total package for off-road performance.

Semi-dry-sump lubrication

The semi-dry-sump design keeps engine oil away from the crankshaft. It ensures more positive oiling under extreme conditions, eliminating windage losses and ensuring better oiling under extreme driving conditions.

Engine air intake

Clean air is vital for optimal engine performance. Our design places the air filter high over the engine in the rear and the air intake off to the side to promote a constant supply of clean air.

Dual-pin offset crankshaft

By offsetting the cylinders’ two crankpins by 270 degrees, the engine delivers a wide powerband and abundant torque, while counterbalancers help keep everything running smoothly.

Tuned exhaust

An equally tuned exhaust system is necessary for improved intake and fuel delivery. This system produces beautiful mechanical exhaust notes and ensures smooth and even engine power delivery.

High-capacity cooling system

When it comes to challenging terrains like rock crawling, deserts, dunes, and high altitudes, your side-by-side's cooling can be put to the test. That's why we equipped all of our Talons with a high-capacity system.

Oil-jet pistons

Squirting oil onto the underside of the pistons helps them run cooler and seal better. This combination allows the pistons to live longer and helps the engine make more power.

Rubber-mounted engine and exhaust

In addition to the suspension, we rubber-mounted the engine and exhaust system to insulate the cabin against excessive vibration. We also gave the engine four mounts to add strength under high loads.

FOX Live Valve 2.5 shocks

The cutting-edge semi-active suspension utilizes FOX's adaptive Live Valve technology, dynamically adjusting compression damping for each wheel in real-time. Enjoy reduced body roll, smoother terrain navigation, and superior resistance to bottoming.

Independent front suspension

Dual A-arm independent suspension gives you 17.6 inches of front travel. Pair that with stellar ground clearance, and you understand why the SxS handles so well and is so comfortable in rough terrain.

4+ link rear suspension

Honda's 4+ link rear suspension provides superior handling by maintaining wheel geometry even with 20.1 inches of travel. This ensures that the rear wheels' toe changes only slightly throughout the entire stroke, improving chassis stability under extreme suspension deflection.

Longer wheelbase

Compared to the X models, the R gets a longer 118.7-inch wheelbase to ensure precise steering and a plush ride, while the 68.1-inch width prioritizes high-speed tracking and superior control over rough terrain and whoops.

Tighter turning radius

Compared to the previous model 1000R-4, we’ve adjusted the wheelbase to improve maneuverability, making loading, unloading, and navigating technical terrain easier.

Weight bias

For optimal sport driving, a slight rear weight bias works best. This is why we set up the Talons with 44% of their weight over the front and 56% over the rear.

Dual-rate springs

The suspension springs provide a soft initial travel but resist bottoming, delivering a comfortable ride and supreme control - the best of both worlds.

Electric Power Steering

Honda's Electric Power Steering (EPS) technology keeps getting better. It eliminates bump steer, reduces fatigue, and provides added assistance in 4WD, lower speeds, and rough conditions. The system is specially tuned for sport-driving, and there are no belts or pumps to slip, break, or leak.

High-performance disc brakes

High-performance brakes feature 250mm discs at all four corners, squeezed by 34mm twin-piston calipers up front and 34mm single-piston calipers out back. Our Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) optimizes front and rear braking power.

Automatic six-speed DCT

Our automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) boasts a class-leading gear-driven setup, giving you manual or automatic control. It has efficient power delivery, true engine braking, and superior performance to belt-driven CVTs.

Advanced Transmission Logic

The brain of the DCT, Advanced Transmission Logic, senses how you drive and adapts. Relaxed drivers get earlier shifts, while for sportier drivers, it will hold each gear longer. And when going downhill, you get true engine braking.

i-4WD

All Talons showcase the second generation of our exclusive i-4WD system. Think "i" for "intelligent" because that's precisely what it is. An industry-first brake-traction control system that helps maintain front-wheel traction even if one wheel wants to spin.

Connected drive feeling

Compared to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), the positive gear-driven Automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) provides a significantly more engaging driving experience.

Honda durability

Our DCT boasts steel gears instead of drive belts or a torque converter, making it as durable and efficient as a manual gearbox.

2WD/4WD shift on the fly

With our torque-biasing brake i-4WD traction control system, you maximize traction when in need and have effortless steering when you want it, all without the need for a diff lock.

Paddle shifting

Steering column-mounted paddle shifters add performance and fun. They let you shift without taking your hands off the steering wheel, and in Automatic mode, they let you override the current gear.

Hill Start Assist

Hill Start Assist prevents rollback when transitioning from brake to accelerator. It also works on both uphill and downhill grades.

Engine location

Engine placement is pivotal, situated behind the cab for optimal balance and neutral weight distribution, ensuring exceptional control.

Center propshaft bearing

Since the vehicle has a longer wheelbase than our two-seater models, it also has a longer propshaft. Therefore, we install a special center bearing to make it stronger and smoother.

Driveline damper

One example of Honda's attention to detail is the cam-type damper on the propshaft. This damper reduces vibrations, prolongs the lifespan of driveline parts, and provides a smoother ride.

Skid plate

Off-road driving can be challenging, and rough terrain can be unforgiving. We offer generous skid protection and a wide range of accessories to help protect vulnerable undercarriage and suspension components.

Front bumper

The standard front bumper offers more vehicle coverage than some other side-by-sides and is designed to slide smoothly over obstacles in rough conditions while providing good protection.

Recovery hook mounting point

Built into the chassis design, this attaching point makes it easy to secure your SxS for transport and hook up a recovery strap when your buddy on some other brand of side-by-side gets stuck.

Built in the U.S.A.

The entire Talon lineup is purpose-built for the American market, right in America. Domestically and globally sourced parts are assembled at our Timmonsville, South Carolina plant.

Painted body

Painted body parts resist scratches and look better. There's no need to slow down for small brushes on the trail. See for yourself—they look great!

Aerodynamic roof

Our attention to detail is evident in the roof's design, which diverts rainwater away from occupants. Additionally, it is aerodynamically cooperative during transportation, whether forward or backward.

Durable frame finish

Your new frame is fully treated inside and out with an electrostatic surface application during manufacturing and then powder-coated to resist chipping. It will look great for a long time.

Stadium seating

Welcome to the best seats in the house: Because they sit nearly three inches higher and two inches closer to each other than the fronts, the rear "Stadium Seating" lets passengers see more. Enjoy the view!

Mud and splash protection

Our Talon lineup provides excellent protection against mud and splashes with full-coverage doors and sealed passenger compartment openings.

Driver and passenger protection

Safety is our top priority. The standard roof and hard doors with side nets help protect from debris. Three-point seatbelts and emergency locking retractors provide added safety.

Occupant Protection Structure

The vehicle's Occupant Protection Structure meets ISO's rollover protection standard with large-diameter tubing. Standard hard doors and quick-clip side nets help keep debris out of the cabin. Auto-style three-point seatbelts optimize passenger security with emergency locking retractors.

Adjustable driver's seat

Designed to fit a wide range of operators, it locks positively in position without wobble, helping make you feel more connected to the vehicle.

Tilt wheel

A tilt steering wheel makes high-performance driving even more comfortable. Additionally, the tilt-wheel function makes getting in and out easier.

Comfortable seats

Our industry-leading seats feature a wide seatback and an even wider seat bottom. They are designed to be the most comfortable while providing tons of lateral support. Additionally, they are compatible with four-point harnesses.

Twin-level front passenger footrests

Passengers have plenty of legroom, even for those over six feet tall and wearing bulky boots. The two-level footrests allow for solid bracing on rough terrain or relaxation while cruising.

Integrated inner door handles

All four doors feature an integrated inner door handle, which demonstrates the Talon’s commitment to comfort and convenience.

Passenger "T" grab handle

Your front passenger needs a solid way to hold on, and Honda got it right with the Talons. The “T” handle resides up front and is quickly adjustable, solid, and rattle-free.

Large cargo bed

The cargo bed sits up high, out of harm's way, and easily accessible. It is big enough to easily hold a large 45-quart cooler with room to spare. It has a 299-pound capacity and features six strong tie-down points.

Door nets

Door nets are now standard equipment and can be quickly and easily latched and unlatched to help protect you from the elements and keep you inside the vehicle.

Secure cup holders

Two cup holders in the center console and one in each door can hold a 30-ounce off-road standard-size travel cup.

Flag mount

Designers at Honda pay attention to every detail, including the fully integrated flag mount.

Accessories galore

We keep adding more accessories every year and currently offer over 50 for the Talon 1000R-4. You can add items like a full audio system, windscreens, winch, auxiliary LED lighting, body and chassis protection, as well as our line of quick attach Honda Pro-Connect offerings.

Launch mode

These are the only side-by-sides offering an automatic gear-driven transmission with launch mode. You won't believe how fast you'll come off the line–and neither will the other riders.

Accessory charging ports

We provided two dedicated 12-volt charging ports: one in the front and one for rear-seat passengers.

Easy-to-read LCD instruments

All Talon models have a large, clear LCD instrument display showing speed, fuel, engine rpm, and more. The display is mounted on the steering column and moves with the wheel.

Integrated switch panel

We've installed a panel in the center that allows for easy installation of accessories like a winch or additional lighting. It also helps to keep the cabin looking clean.
